P5-Be able to edit materials to produce a final print media product
Meaning and purpose
this section demonstrates the different editing techniques I have used throughout this unit.

Fitness for Purpose
To keep consistency between my final images, I aimed to make similar edits and use the same techniques in all the images. This meant i could my present images in a way that would be fit for purpose also I included the Ralph lauren Logo on every image this was to make even clearer what brand the images were for.In order to create a web banner design for my image,  I needed to use a variety of different processes in order to achieve this. The Individual augmentations enabled me to manipulate the images and text in order to create a captivating and professional looking web banner design using Photoshop.

I then edited the original images to hopefully bringing in the audience into the website, this involved many different stages in order to produce the final images. The pictures  below shows an edit for one of my final images, this includes change tones, saturation, highlights and curves, as well as simple airbrushing.

Removing the background
For this step I  selected the tool Magic Eraser, then scanned the parts of the image  I wanted removed, giving me a logo with no background this allows the audience to see what the brand is which increased the quality of my final images.

I then deleted sections of the logo that were covering the clothing or branded apreal this is done in most high magasines however this means removing different parts of the logo which does mean people might not know what the brand is but because ralph lauren is such a high end brand people already know who they are even with a few letter missing Below shows the process of erasing the logo, using the Eraser tool

cropping
I did this to give the photo more impact this is done by cropping out some of the background this draws the viewer more into the major points of interest such as the models face plus the product itself .firstly i used the box tool this allowed me to decided what size fitted my purpose best because i didn't want to take away too much of my photo so once i had decided what size i wanted i selected the crop tool and sliced it down to the selected size I cropped out some of the blank background which might have made it boring to the viewer.

removing the background
I had to remove the background. For this step I simply selected the 'Magic Eraser Tool', then highlighted the areas in which I wanted the background removed, resulting in the logo with no background, which increased the quality of my final images.Furthermore, I erased parts of the logo that were placed in front of the initial image, a technique completed by most high magazines, showing the logo, however removing different parts of letters that fall in front of the model. Below shows the process of erasing the logo, using the Eraser tool.

saturation contrast
I changed the saturation contrast and saturation of the photo to by using the contrast and saturation tool i lowers the brightness and upped the contrast this gives the photo a more professional shoot. it also links with the winter theme because you usually associate winter with dark colours such as navy and greens.

Drop shadow
once i had rotated and moved it I added an drop shadow effect to give it and 3d effect and to make it "pop"as you see the difference between above and below.I then added a drop shadow effect i did this by clicking on the blending options of the layer section then ticking the drop shadow box i then angled the shadow to give this a 3d effect. I think adding the drop shadow to the picture allows for it stand out better and catch the eye of my target audience.

Text
Text is a vital part of  media products if they are to be good in selling or advertising I have taken exceptional care when choosing what text to use . The screenshot below shows the various layers in which I have used for text, enabling me to be precise in every block of text that appears on the final product. Using the text and character tools, I chose the size and font of the text that will be seen on the final product. In order to keep consistency I kept the same font, similar to the one used by ralphlauren, giving a more realistic and professional media product. It was crucial to use an appropriate font style, otherwise the product may be seen completely different and not be perceived exactly how I initially planned

I moved pieces of texts to catch the eye of audiences, for example ralphlauren' are key words in the advert, and therefore I kept the at a large font size, whereas the sub text was reduced to 72 pt drawing the reader in and causing them to look further at the ad . The text used in the picture is also crucial in order to sell and market the clothes. EG 'introducing' is a selling point for the new ralph lauren range and this will catch the eye of customers, convincing them that this product is worth looking at. The rest of the text must remain simplistic and offer true understanding and information to the customer, explaining what the product is called and what it is.

Removing Spots and Blemishes
This is a very simple process on photo shop. In fact installed within the programme is a 'spot remover tool'I am simply placing my cursor over the spot or blemish, and selecting it. This then replaces the area with another section from the images that matches the skin tone, removing the imperfection completely. This editing technique was essential in reflecting the model's true beauty, and resulted in the ability to publish an image with no marks, blemishes or spots that unfortunately may not be attractive to many readers. Allowing me to keep the fitness for purpose, which is achieving images of high standards that convey beauty, fashion and success.

transforming the logo
I took the logo and using the edit button i activated the drop down bar which then allowed me to activate the transform drop down bar which then showed the  scale tool I dragged the logo from the corner while holding the shift kept the shapes original shape and not distorting it.
not distorting the image allows the Ralph Lauren logo to stay the same through out the photo shoot and is recognisable through all the images which means that then target audience will know that all of these images belong to the same company.

I had to use the square highlighter tool found on left side tool bar and then I proceeded create a square using the tool i then used the bucket tool tool to fill it with a black colour this allows the white logo to stand out more which gives more emphasise on the logo.in addition to standard text, I also had to superimpose ralph Lauren logos onto the image. This helps the audience acknowledge the brand immediately, and therefore is essential to include within the final product. This process firstly involves importing the images into photoshop, this is done my selecting File, then Place:Secondly I had to select the image that was needed in the final image. After using the Magic Eraser Tool once again to remove the background, I had to use the Paint Bucket Tool to edit the image, changing it from white to black, otherwise the image would not be clear on the screen. I selected black for the foreground colour (shown below) to change the ralphlauren  logo to white.

Curves
this is an example of the before and after i used curves in my pictures. Curves affect contrast and tones so intern by editing the curve slightly can change an image drastically I alterd the curve for all of my images, to keep constancy consistent and create continuity in each image .
